Because the future is being shaped today
Because hope is a universal right
Because freedom is an inalienable value
We have created Afghanistan Today and Tomorrow (Afghaad).
Our work consists of supporting Afghan women through professional activities that will enable them to regain their self-confidence. Our ‘Kabul team’ is made up of 12 women. They are seamstresses, experienced or not, it doesn’t matter. The most skilled train the novices in a spirit of teamwork and solidarity.
Together, they progress and create a small community. Gradually, as their confidence grows, they take measurements from customers, prepare pricing, and send the garments made in France to Lyon.
For several months now, they have been diversifying their activities and cooking… French food. We have trained them to make gratin dauphinois and ratatouille. They are creating their own opportunities.
For an Afghan woman, working is a miracle given the political situation in the country. There are many restrictions. Our mantra, ‘let’s try before saying it’s not possible,’ has instilled a spirit of resistance and initiative in these women. They have become very proactive.
The financial aspect is important in the process of ‘rebuilding’ these women’s lives, as they are the sole breadwinners in their households. Their place within the family is thus valued and recognised.
They are proud to be recognised for their work.
Afghaad provides comprehensive support and assistance.
To do this, we drew inspiration from the social system in France. Working entitles people to certain rights. As such, the children of seamstresses receive healthcare. Need a paediatrician? Need surgery? We assess and cover the costs.
Schooling incurs costs in Afghanistan. Each family receives an allowance for each child in school.
Afghaad simply gives Afghan women momentum. Every day, we tell them: ‘Yes, together we can do it.’

The organisation carrying the project
Afghanistan Today and Tomorrow supports economic development projects at the family and village level. Afghaad advocates the idea that everyone should be able to live and prosper in the land where they were born or the land they have chosen, combining financial support and training with a focus on effectiveness, working in a spirit of solidarity that respects the culture and history of Afghanistan and its people.
